KTR concerned over decline in IT exports & jobs in Telangana
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president and former IT minister KT Rama Rao expressed his concern over the decline in IT exports and jobs in Telangana State. He tweeted the figures for the decline in IT exports and jobs this year as compared to the last year.
“In the year 2022-23, there were ₹.57,706 crore IT exports from Telangana, while in 2023-24, exports stood at Rs 26,948 crore. There is also a huge drop in the IT employment generation. In 2022-23, 1,27,594 new jobs were created. In 2023-24, only 40,285 jobs were created,” he said.
He recalled that in the last six-seven years, the government had taken several steps to significantly increase the IT growth in Telangana. He said due to single window system, TS IPASS and government policies related to IT sector, the IT sector in Hyderabad had developed at a very fast pace and claimed that they have worked hard to make Hyderabad an IT hub for the country.
“But after coming to power, the Congress government had completely ignored the IT sector,” he alleged and reminded that the progress of the IT sector had done a lot of good for the economic progress of Telangana. He said if the IT sector was not taken care of, the State would suffer financially and in terms of employment generation. He appealed to the Congress government to give importance to it as well as ITES sectors. He urged the government to pay special attention to the IT sector in the city if it wants to revive it again. To support the aspiring young entrepreneurs and start-up companies in every possible way, he asked them to come up with policies that would benefit the IT sector.
He noted that if the IT companies want to grow further, the infrastructure has to be increased from time to time. He advised the government to strictly enforce law and order. KTR suggested that the government should constantly focus on IT exports and job creation.
